Have membership and room for WHC in Austin. Really forward to finally meeting a number of folks I feel are almost family. May even have some stuff to sign there. We'll see. Gene I'm very close to making it, too. Don't have room or membership booked yet (trying to find a decent priced airfare first!) but all looks good for me making Austin this year. Then again, every time I say that, something happens to screw it up.

Gord and I are all set up with a room. He gets in earlier than me on Thursday and see he'll be in the room or bar. Want to bet where I find him when I get in around dinner time? Both Joe McKinney and I have books debuting at Austin. Should be fun. I'm looking forward seeing old friends and making some new ones. Please say hello if our paths cross. Gene

I'll make sure I cross your path, Gene. I really cannot wait. I'm arriving on Tuesday night, so will time zone adjust on Wednesday and be ready for Thursday afternoon. I'm not however staying at the con hotel, but almost next door. I guess I'll stake the bar out on Thursday waiting for folks to arrive.

See you late Thursday afternoon, Leigh. Will be a highlight for me, for sure. Gene

Loved meeting new folks and especially Leigh, who is as charming in person as he is in e-mails. I didn't stop much from the panel I was on before getting settled on Thursday night after arrival until leaving Sunday. Did some bidness, signed a lot of stuff, even helped several dealers sell some stuff, ate some great food, and for me--which I rarely do--made my appearance and hung around a few parties. I would have liked to have spent some time talking to Peter Straub and Joe Hill, but they were always more busy than me. Good story idea (or maybe not): The writer who sent five clones to a con. Thanks to all for making me feel more special than I am (Kay quickly straighten that out when I got home). Gene

Great to see you again, Gene. That Gord guy, though, I don't know about him.
Your party was the bomb. Anybody on the fence about the new book should jump over to the good side. NOT FADE AWAY, from what Gene read, is fan-effin-tastic.
And quick note about Gene, if you want him to talk to you, don't be standing next to an attractive female. Somehow he only hears their questions.

Sam: It was indeed great to see you again. A person only has to be around you for a few minutes to know you are a *good* guy. Thanks for the generous plug of NOT FADE AWAY. I think it's decent--but what do I know about literature. I don't think I can let Kay read your the last part of your e-mail. I tell her there are never any attractive women at horror conventions (of course that's a lie, but you know...). Going to see you and your bud at Killercon, Sam? I'm trying to do that one without Gord hanging around. When he comes busting into the room at 2 or 3, it smells like a beer truck drove in. Then he hits the bathroom, and I almost call for an EMT because of those strange sounds. After I'm wide awake, he immediately drifts off and a minute later his snoring actually bows the windows. So it goes, Gene

I think the whole Snutch Labs group is going to try for KillerCon this year. Bad Moon is releasing Erik's novel, DEMON, that weekend, and the group might have some other stuff going on, as well. Plus, it's always good to see the family in Vegas...for like an hour, then it's all Vegas, baby!

Sam: Sounds good. I just got the airline ticket reserved last night. Introduce me to that rowdy bunch. Actually I believe I wrote an introduction for Erik's novel--and a good one it is (novel not intro). As an aside I may have something definite to announce soon that I hope debuts there, something really affordable but, for me, very graphic in violent and sexual terms (Gord says it's a winner right there with graphic sex and violence). You going to have something new ready by then? Gene

Gene: You can't go wrong with sex and violence. It's like baseball and hot dogs.
As for me, I believe the chapbook is at the printers and I'm extemely behind on another deadline, but should have that wrapped up this week. Snutch might have something in the works due out possibly in the fall, but I think I'm supposed to be hush hush on that right now.
I introduced you to all the Snutchers at WHC, but probably not in that way. I'm sure you'll recognize those clowns when you see them. Well, Kim and Petra for sure anyway;-) I know, you can't let the wife see that one, either.

Bob: I'm surprised a good looking guy would even allow himself to be photographed with those two over-the-hill outlaws. Yes, look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas. I'm not sure Gord's wife will let him go again. He didn't appear back home for over a week last time. Gene

We should have gotten a pic of us all with our photographer, but I didn't think of it till I was halfway back home.

But you don't need to lie, since I cannot see me making another convention for a while. But I reciprocate the words you wrote in my convention book, should you happen to remember them. I also greatly appreciate your kind words on Shades of Reality...and at your own book launch, no less!

Leigh: I didn't make an effort to have a meal or some private chat time with you...which I look back with disappointment now, especially if you have no more cons planned (maybe one when SHADES OF REALITY debuts?). It was indeed a pleasure finally meeting you! Gene
