Michael,
Recently I set down Edward Lee Haunter of the Threshold in favor of reading this (needed a break from siction). I am very, very glad I did. I'm well over half way through the book and am absolutely enthralled in the story.
I have two daughters, so of course this story has been making me overly paranoid since starting it, but I can't put it down. Well I have to, but I pick it up the second I get a chance. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Anyone else reading this or read it and love it?

I've read it twice already. It's a fantastic book! McBride is my favorite author, and I can't believe he hasn't gotten a major publishing deal??!!

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I really appreciate it. This one definitely made me uncomfortable while I was writing it. I'm glad that came through in the finished project. ;D
Thanks to everyone who bought it and enjoyed it!

I loved writing those characters. I guess we'll have to see what the future holds.

This story really, really fucked with me Michael! The subject matter was really scary to me because I have two daughters. I actually went and checked on them after reading some of it. Freaked me out!
I also love the medical terminology and scientific material. I didn't understand all of it, but it made it very interesting to me.

Not through it being a bad story, it's fantastic! But very hard to read as it involved children.

Thanks, Mark! I hope you enjoy the heck out of it. ;D
I always swore I'd never write anything that involved the suffering or death of children, and then I went and followed INNOCENTS with "Brood XIX." Heh. I'm sure I'll have child services at the door any minute now.
I'm glad the story worked for you guys. The process of writing it got so gut-wrenching that I had to add the supernatural element to keep it from feeling too real.
