I just received the contract back forI N DARK CORNERS, a collection of 26 of my mid-career short stories--mostly 90s. Genius Publishing is new (Norm Rubenstein is an editor there) and is attempting to get this book out by WHC in Salt Lake City in March 2012. Wayne Miller cover artist. Scott Edelman introduction. Nice Gene. Have the stories been selected yet?

John: Yes, they have been picked. 16 come from the short-lived collection, THE GRAND STRUGGLE. 7 picked from other publications during this period. And 3 will be originals, written back then, like the short story that evolved into SHADOW OF THE DARK ANGEL. Those few who have a copy of THE GRAND STRUGGLE, like yourself, might not feel that 10 new stories justifies picking up a copy of IN DARK CORNERS. But from my royalty statements from Prime, there are few people who bought the collection before Prime and I went our separate ways.

Hi Gene. I have a copy of THE GRAND STRUGGLE. But reading that only only gave me reason to seek out more of your work. I'm in for IN DARK CORNERS.

H, like John, I not only appreciate your support, but your reactions. If you don't react to something that tells me a lot. Thanks, Gene

Here's a nifty tidbit. My friend, John Little, will be doing the Afterword for IN DARK CORNERS. This is going to be a big book. Gene

Great collection, Gene. Twilight Zone meets Alfred Hitchcock. Although I enjoyed them all, my favs were Case #005036, Make A Face Billy Boy, In The Big Window, Metemphychosis, Live Oak, Counting Backwards, 300 S. Montgomery, Jackie, Masquerade, When Legends Die, The Affective Connection, and Shadow Of The Dark Angel (although I prefer the novel length edition). Many Thanks, Gene.

Thanks, Bob. A writer hopes he strikes a chord with a reader with several selections in a collection. It appears you enjoyed over half of them. And those with the sf slant seemed to not have resonated so much. Funny, because I think the publisher liked the ones with a mixed sf slant. Gene

This showed up in the mail today. It's a pretty hefty book. I glanced at the contents and wondered what's up with the 2012 copyright on Shadow of the Dark Angel?

John: first time short story version has seen print. The novel was generated from this short story. Gene
