Hello, all.
Billie will be sending out the official announcement later, but I figured I would give our Crypt lurkers a heads-up a little early.
Sam W. Anderson's THE UNUSUAL EVENTS OF A SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT BIG K'S TRUCK STOP AND FINE DINING EMPORIUM - A MONEY RUN TALE is now up for reservation. For those of you who read Mr. Anderson's collection POSTCARDS FROM PURGATORY, you likely remember the stand-out "Money Run" tales. BIG K'S is the latest novella set in this universe and continues the stories of several of the Run's most eclectic characters.
For a limited time, we'll also be including a FREE digital edition with all pre-orders. THE MONEY RUN: A FIELD GUIDE is a 25,000 collection that includes the original three MR tales as well as the brand new release, "Getting Warmer" and an introduction by the author. Those who missed the stories the first time, here is your chance to catch up. And for those of you waiting for more Run fiction, "Getting Warmer" is sure to satisfy.
We'll be running this offer for two weeks only. After that, THE MONEY RUN: A FIELD GUIDE will go up for sale.

Thanks in advance to all who grab a copy!

Any new release by Mr. Anderson is cause for celebration...but in this case no booze, cuz you all know he is a teetotaller? And he don't smile much either. Gene

...I think he belongs to one of those religious groups that uses snakes in its rituals, and years ago got bit on the end of some part of his anatomy, ahem, his nose, which accounts for some of his deranged wild flares of fiction (or his dreams)...but that's speculation. Maybe he'll confirm.

That is almost completely not true. Almost.
Maybe I don't smile so much due to my teetotalling ways?
Thanks for the kind words, you troublemaker. And thanks (not so much) for bringing up the snake incident. There's more than just physical scars, you know.

I believe it was a tube snake he got bit by.
Reserved mine (so stop blackmailing me already).

I have been waiting for more of the Money Run since I read Postcards. Those stories were AWESOME.
Is there going to be a hardcover edition? (nevermind is just read the website...duh). This book is not going to get here fast enough.

Thanks Lenny and Lee. You guys are much nicer than them earlier clowns who had to say bad stuff about me. Well, except for Lee who wants to punch me just to tell everybody he did. Actually, Lee, you're not nicer.
Lenny, though...that guy rocks.

Good news. Got my order in. Was nice meeting Sam at WHC - another good guy in this genre.

Leigh: It's surprising how many "good" and cheerful people write dark fiction. I think it's almost a general rule. Folks were often surprised when they met Richard Laymon. Same goes with some of the heavy hitters now--all nice people. I suppose the psychologists/psychiatrists probably could enlighten us on this...or maybe not. Gene

Thanks, Leigh. I appreciate the support and it was great meeting you.
To Gene's point, for writers (who are their own special breed of fuck ups), I've found this genre easily has the most well-adjusted, even-headed group. Now, there's some special exceptions that create far too much drama, but in general...just look at the empirical evidence on this board. Find a nicer guy than Gene, well, exept for maybe Ben Ethridge, well, except for maybe Michael McBride, except for maybe Jeff Strand, except for maybe Lee Thompson...and on and on.
Except for Erik Williams - that guy's a prick.

Sam: I'm in I think (to make sure I e-mailed Billie today to make sure my pre-order went in). Those folks you mentioned are indeed all very nice, approachable people...and you're also right excluding Erik from the Christmas list. Gene

A huge plus for attending cons...meeting the great people behind the fiction we love to read.
