I figure since we are getting new titles in and new stuff up for order both by us and other publishers maybe I should list the new stuff and pre-orders in case you missed something from newsletters or just a reminder
So since I am a big comic goob I think I will do one of those to kick the thread off.
Here are a few new pre-order items just added to the website
This listing is far from complete in all the comic goodness that is available, it is just the highlights. To list it all would take all day and Roy would get really ticked off that I was messing around with comics all day. So here we go.
From Dark Horse Comics comes
From the guy who brought you the 30 Days of Night mythology. Steve Niles launched a series of occult detective stories featuring the monstrously hard-boiled Cal McDonald. A pill-popping alcoholic reprobate, Cal is the only line of defense between Los Angeles and a growing horde of zombies, vampires, possessed muscle cars, mad scientists, werewolves, and much more weirdness! This volume collects the first two Criminal Macabre trades, the one-shot story Love Me Tenderloin, and the previously uncollected Criminal Macabre: Supernatural Freak Machine!
Why did I pick this one well, why the heck wouldn't I want to read this! It has everything supernatural creatures, Lovecraftian monsters, witty banter and a burned out detective who gets to take care of it all. Plus I am a sucker for Dark Horse's Omnibus editions. You get a TON of stories for the price and an nice solid trade paperback that is not going to fall to pieces after the first 20 pages. They put the the stories in chronological order, and they collect the hard to find one shots or short stories from annuals and other anthologies. These editions are a must for a comic reader who wants all the stories, but not have to get all the individual issues. Sorry, see I get so excited about comics!
Although there are no trade paperbacks coming out this month, there is another favorite Dark Horse title that I can never get enough of and that is Hellboy and the spin off series B.P.R.D. or anything from Mike Mignola for that matter. He mixes the supernatural, Lovecraftian monsters with folklore, mythology and legends from around the world with dry humor and somewhat down to earth people and demons, and fish people and well once you start reading it you will see what I mean. If you are interested in reading Hellboy and are not sure where to start drop me a line liz@badmoonbooks.com and I can point you in the right direction. There is a great selection of titles available for the casual reader (trade paperbacks) to the collector of fine editions (oversized hardcovers) and all editions are made to be read and stand the test of time.
On to a few tid bits from IDW Pblishing. This comics publisher is slowly creeping up to my number two spot of favorite publishers. They put out some great titles True Blood (yea I know), Locke & Key, Godzilla, 30 Days of Night, Dungeons & Dragons (that's right I AM a gamer), Doctor Who (new and classic) and the occasional tie-in to original novels. Also IDW is famous for doing multiple covers for their issues, some include signed copies from the authors, photo covers from movie and TV shows, sketch covers or different artist covers.
Some new series that are starting in August include True Blood, Anne Rice's Servent of the Bones, and Dungeons & Dragons: Drizzt. They are all starting on issue number one of their mini series and if you are interested in getting the series email me and I can get you hooked up. All of them are also going to have multiple covers issued including signed copies by Anne Rice and signed copies by R.A Salvatore.
Other ongoing series that are worth mentioning are Locke & Key: Clockworks which is the final story arc in the series. If you haven't been reading Locke & Key you have been missing out on some great fiction by Joe Hill. If you are interested I can order copies of the first four series in hardcover or the first two in trade paperback and that will get you back on track with this amazing story.
30 Days of Night: Night, Again is a four issue series written by Joe R. Lansdale. The first two issues are out now and we have them in stock.
Robert Bloch's That Hellbound Train by Robert Bloch, Joe R. Lansdale and John Lansdale. The first issue is due to hit this month so get on board the train!
For those Dungeons & Dragons fans out there, IDW is releasing two collections. The first is Dark Sun: Ianto's Tomb and the second is Forgotten Realms: Legend of Drizzt Omnibus Volume 1.
Alright one last thing cause according to Roy I gotta get back to listing "real" books on the website
BOOM! Studios has a couple of series that are out. They have the continuing 28 Days Later storyline going. I you ever wanted to know what happened before and after the movie this is the series or trade paperbacks to get.
The other two are original ongoing series from two spectacular writers. There is Michael Moorcock's Elric and Clive Barker's Hellraiser. Elric will start up July and Hellraiser issue two has just been released last week. I have read the first two issues of the Hellraiser series and it is pretty good. There are multiple covers to each of the issues and we have a few of them still available.
Like I said this is not the full listing of titles available, just the highlights. If you are interested in starting up a subscription for any of the above titles please let me know. If you want to talk comics I am always down for that. If there is a series or trade paperback or anything you would like to order and you don't see it on our website www.badmoonbooks.com please let me know and I can see if I can get you hooked up. There is a plethora (world of the day baby!) of comic issues and trade paperbacks available to order all you gotta do is email me at liz@badmoonbooks.com and I can make it happen!
