Paul...every post you make damages KWP...why should Zach suffer because you can't let things rest for once... That's what I was thinking *shrug*

One thing I'd like to point out is that this stuff should be noted in the contract and handled between the parties offline. Typically, when I communicate verbally with an author, the game plan many times can be stated in as little as a couple of sentences: For example: Number of copies: # amount, retail price: $X, Royalty rate: Y%, Advance: $Z, Plus # of PC copies. Need the MS by X date, to be published Y date. That is the nuts and bolts and although I will put this stuff in complete sentences, pretty much that is it. And the author will respond, ya or nay, or ask to change something. But when it comes down to putting it in writing via a written contract. The contract is 8 page long. A few sentences turn into eight pages, largely to handle not only things that are included, but things that aren't, as well as contingencies when deadlines and other things (by both the publisher and the author) are not met. If something is not explicitly stated in the contract, guess what, the author gets the benefit of the doubt. Hope this adds a little bit of insight. Paul with one simple post, thunderstorm books jumps to the top of my list of publishers i'd love to do business with.

You NEVER turned one in or advised me it was complete. Of course I didn't. Your company was already upside down and you were already hemorrhaging funds, authors and customers. Was I supposed to turn a finished, original novella in to somebody who had no publishing company left to publish it? Fuck you and fuck this noise. I used to pity you. Now, given your recent behaviors, changing excuses, and shifting blame, I suspect that 80% of your health problems are probably bullshit, beginning with the mouth cancer you told me you had. Do you really think you're the first "publisher" to spend all of his money up front, announce way more books than he can realistically publish, and then find out that publishing is actually hard fucking work and the money doesn't magically come back in overnight? Because newsflash for you, Little. You're not. I took your check. I cashed your check. I wrote your novella. It's not my fault you and your press were already fucked by the time I finished. I've heard from a half dozen other authors whom you worked with. We compared notes, and -- surprise-surprise -- they have their own stories regarding your remarkable ineptitude, blame-shifting, bs'ing, etc. Would you like to hear them, or would you like to quit while you're ahead?

I'd be happy to present some...
Let's try this, Paul. How about you explain the mysterious inability that you and you alone had to get my agent's e-mail or phone number to work?
You paid an advance on one book up font, and after (by my count) more than FIFTY e-mails from myself and my agent (whose phone and e-mail are and have been fine) you finally decided to pay installments on a second book (which you didn't do) promised over and over to fix things you didn't fix...the list is pretty endless...you seriously have no room asking why someone didn't turn something in to you after you'd already quit even responding properly to those of us who not only turned things in but lost YEARS of marketing opportunities on our work while you sat around NOT publishing them and deflecting every attempt to communicate with you.
You seriously need to learn when to shut up. I've posted and deleted here about a dozen times so far, and I'm done deleting. For God's sake, let it drop...you sound like a petulant kid caught doing something bad...you just repeat yourself over and over.
This kind of thing is why I'm hesitant to sign up for new boards after all that's gone before...ugh.

I'm jumping to conclusions here, but I've seen Paul's behavior before with a couple of people I've know through my years, and both of them are habitual liars to the point where they believe all the lying that they spew. They don't know the difference between truth and lie. I really have to put Paul in with this group because he has all the same symptoms of a habitual liar. It's a type of person I have never understood, and I still don't.

Don't get me wrong. I have no intention of being drawn into a long, endless posting of you did this, he did that...I just couldn't stand it anymore. I have my own things to worry about. I just felt as if Brian was standing alone here, and that was wrong.

David, you and Brian are established and well respected authors with a great track record. Don't let the ramblings of a moron get to you. It's no wonder FMP failed so spectacularly.

David, you and Brian are established and well respected authors with a great track record. Don't let the ramblings of a moron get to you. It's no wonder FMP failed so spectacularly. Jim I am posting here for the last time after receiving this email from Zach. What he said makes a lot of sense. I will make a couple of necessary comments and then bow out and enjoy the rest of my time with family. Hi Paul,
Please do me a favor and just let the fucking message boards go. There is nothing there for you any longer. I suspect that you won't change minds or opinions there. Let those who want to call you names or accuse you of things say what they will. You know the truth of things. You provided refunds or trades to all you could and I made a deal with you to cover the rest. How this makes you anything less than honest, I don't know. I know the facts of the situation and you do too, but unfortunately no matter how may times you smack these people upside the head with the truth, they will believe whatever they want to. I know you hate people telling lies about you, but let it go. At this point you can only hurt KWP business as some of these people may become my customers once they see that I am legit. Were I you, I would post a final goodbye to the boards--only for the sake of those who do know you and support you--and then never go on them again. If these boards make you unhappy it seems to be wise to cut them out of your life. Right now you need to stop worrying about these faceless people on the internet and focus on you and your family. I know you are blessed with a great family and great love, so why waste time with these guys? Please stop posting on the boards, if not for you and your family for the sake of KWP. Let me know if you need to talk or anything. I am always here for you man.
ZachFirst point is to Jim: Jim you don't know anything about me and to presume to call me a moron? I would pit myself against you in an IQ or any other measure of intelligence any day. It would be very unfair to you I'm afraid. Much like Stephen Hawking against a 1 grade science teacher, with you as the teacher. Don't call me a moron you idiot. Second point is to Brian: Brian, I wish that even 10% of my health problems were BS. But they are not. I did not tell you I had mouth cancer, check your facts. I did have to have a very serious surgery in which they removed all the soft tissue palate in my mouth and they suspect I have thyroid cancer. 3 biopsies that are all inconclusive with a growth that is almost the size of the entire thyroid. I am sure that this is a simple mistake on your part, since we haven't spoken in almost 2 years. My health is very, very bad and I can back it up. A while back when Larry Roberts same a similar accusation I invited him to come spend a week with me. I have 5-10 doctor appointments in a week and anyone that wants to can join me for those. In fact several former customers and Members of FMP are also facebook friends and they can testify to the fact that Callie and I regularly post about my medical condition. If I were lying about my health it might get a little uncomfortable seeing how many of my siblings, church members and close friends are also my FB friends. It's hard to lie about your health when all of these people see me regularly. My argument with you, Brian, is that you should have stayed out of this mess, like many of the other authors I dealt with. They took the high road. I think I know why you have attacked me and I know it is not for altruistic reasons and so do you. Third point is to cutter: cutter you have NO reason to call me a liar. I have lied about nothing. What could I have lied about? I have not run and hid from anyone during this whole affair and I have told no lies. In spite of what some are calling "attempts at deflection" I call them what they are: shared blame. I have admitted to shortcomings and failures in the fall of FMP, but those shortcomings were not all my own. Don't call someone a liar unless you have proof. As for a habitual liar? Dude your crazy. Fourth point is to DNW: I respect you David, so I will be brief. I don't wish to lose my respect for you, so I don't want to go into a big argument. I do have to say that some of what you said is not entirely true. I'll leave it at that. I want to say thank you to those who continued to believe in me after all that has been said and done. There were many factors that went into FMP's failure and as I have said before, I do bear a lot of the blame. I tried to deliver too much, too quick. But I did not "rip off" anyone as some have surmised. I spent every dollar brought into FMP and thousands of my own on FMP projects. I paid tens of thousands in author advances, tens of thousands on printing costs, and the same on prepaid artwork. I did not profit one cent on FMP and no one lost more money than I. The final blow to FMP was Lifetime Members asking for money back. While I could have denied their requests (Lifetime Membership description clearly noted no refunds would be given after the first book shipped) I chose to try and honor as many of those requests as possible. Some members received cash (up to what I had to give), some received traded books, and some received my personal preorders from other publishers like Cemetery Dance. I told everyone who would listen to be patient and I would make things right and I have done so. I believe that soon Kresby will be receiving my Limited Edition of Stephen King's "Secretary of Dreams Volume 2" to go with volume 1 making me complete on my obligation to him. Some who had faith in me and were patient have received transferred Lifetime Memberships with KWP and will begin receiving their books in about a week. All preorders were either refunded already or if they had an order for a book Zach will be publishing, they will receive that book from KWP. So for those who would say I ripped someone off, I would love to hear how I did so. No never mind, I won't be back to hear your answer, if you had one. So I guess I am one big SOB for sticking around and making sure people didn't lose their money. If making things right makes me a SOB, then I am happy to be so. To those of you who emailed me to thank me for getting Zach to take on your Lifetime Membership, no thanks is needed. I assured you I would try to do right by you and I did the best I could. I want to thank you for having patience and faith in me. My final word to all is that you shouldn't judge me based on what you think you know. You probably don't know half of the truth. There was a lot of misinformation put out about me by a couple of other presses and their surrogates on the web. One of these guys even kind of suggested I take the "oh well you made an investment and lost..." approach with Lifetime Members. Instead I have stuck around and through all the criticism and name calling I have been responding to Lifetime Members and customers honestly and with concern. Yes, I have defended myself against smears and name calling. I have that right. When I know something to be untrue I have always tried to set the record straight. I also had Zach pledge to do something for those I have already paid back. I am not sure what that entails but I do trust him. I also thank the authors who have taken the high road. Rick Hautala, Mort Castle, and Scott Nicholson are just a few of those who I know a little better than the rest and who handled themselves with nothing but professionalism and caring during what has been a difficult time for us all. Thanks to you guys. So in closing, think of me what you will. I can't care anymore and probably shouldn't have in the first place. I know the truth of the situation and it definitely is not what has been said here by others. I do not lie and have not lied about this situation. I am an ordained minister who is faithful to my beliefs and my God, and lying is not part of those beliefs. I have no reason to lie and wouldn't profit from doing so anyway. I have done all I can to make things right and I appreciate those who have been patient while waiting for that to happen. And lastly, I would ask for those who have not bought into the things said about me and those who are spiritual people to pray for me and my family. My health continues to decline daily while I continue to fight for my life every day. I am lucky to be alive now, and that is only through prayers and aggressive treatment. Please pray that if there is any hope for recovery that it will happen but if that is not to be, that my wife and son would get along okay without me. That is my worst fear, leaving them without me. I have one of the best women in the world as my bride and a son that the world revolves around. I thank you all and leave with no grudges against anyone. I will let it go now. I have said all that needs saying. Paul

"Dude your crazy." Stephen Hawking would probably have used "you're", and put an apostrophe in there. Paul, I don't think you set out to steal from people, and I can appreciate your efforts to pay your customers back, either in cash or with books. Personally, I think you were just an overenthusiastic person who didn't have a clue what he was getting into. That said, you went about everything that followed the opening of FMP totally wrong. At this stage, and I feel horrible saying this, I don't even buy into ANY of the grocery list of ailments you claim to have. If I were dying, reading message boards and typing endless screeds against anyone who mentions my name would be the LAST thing I'd be interested in doing. I have serious doubts that Zach Powell exists, and your e-mail from him didn't do anything to convince me otherwise. The only thing it was missing was a sentence or two about how handsome and smart you are. Oddly enough, it was written with the same voice your other posts are written in. Go spend time with your family, Paul. I wish them well. And Zach, if you exist.....You started off VERY badly. Pay for new signature sheets, next time.

Dannyboy...I think Zach is a figment of someone's imagination as well...and his disparaging remarks to the largest customer-base he's likely to get is no way to run a business...and I think Paul will be back...that was his third 'this will be my last post' so far...

Still curious if Zach Powell is the 19 year old Zach Powell from Dallas, Georgia I found on Myspace. Hmmm. Little's present hometown. Be easy to pick a friend or "acquaintance" to front a new business and correct past mistakes. Simple to get a PO box in a town 12 miles away for KWP. Be smarter and more honest to lay it all out. Hey, I screwed up miserably the first time around, but I am going to try it again and make it up to all the people who believed in me and lost money with my first venture. That I could respect and support. Not vitriolic responses to potential customers' inquiries, or attacks on respected authors. Just my 2 cents.
