I just finished listening to Philo Vance Volume 2. This is a murder/private investigator series. It was only 99 cents after buying 1 regular price set. The P V stories are good, but kind of jump around sometimes. I like to understand the story and there was more than one story I relistened to because I knew I'd missed something. I'm not sure I'll buy another P V set. My favorite otr series are The Mysterious Traveler, The Lone Ranger, Suspense, Murder By Experts, Rocky Jordan.

I like Lights Out!, The Shadow, Halls of Fantasy, X Minus 1, Escape, and Inner Sanctum in addition to TMT and Suspense. I have collections of all that stuff on vinyl.

Suspense, definitely. I also dig The Hermit's Cave and some one-off type of shows like War Of The Worlds. There's a show on NPR called When Radio Was that I listen to on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the way home from band practice. It may be on other nights too but I'm not 100% certain. I even like to hear the old commercials.
It's funny when you think about how people used to gather around the radio each night to listen to their favorite programs just like we (at least used to) gather around the t.v. today. I don't really know of any station doing that type of programming outside of NPR unless XM might have it. (I know nothing about satellite radio). Those programs required you to use your imagination infinitely more than t.v. or movies do. At least we still have the recordings of that time.

XM has Radio Classics OTR 24/7 including a couple I never heard of: Creeps By Night and The Unexpected.

A lot of OTR is available on the archive.org website. Free to listen to or download. I used to collect this stuff on reel to reel back in the day, trading with other people who were into it. Now you can just find these on the 'net.
