...are there plans for a 2011 calendar? I don't think we'll be doing a 2011 calendar. We had a BLAST doing it but it bombed. Sold a handful of copies of it. We would have done it year after year if it picked up, but the hours Tom spent putting it together, and the time Tom and Tony Karnes spent on artwork just doesn't make it worth it. Unfortunately.

It has to be hard to market and sell a calendar no matter how neat and well put together it is.

That's sad. I got the 2010 calendar and fucking love it! I mean, I really thought it woudl be a blockbuster, the artwork is stellar, a horror fan's wet dream, and reasonably priced. Guess that shows how much I know. And I am loving the hell out of writing these stories each month.

Yeah, unfortunately this proved one of those ideas that looked great on paper, but just didn't pan out with sales. I had done another calendar years ago, and it proved to be a very popular item, so when Tony mentioned the idea, I jumped all over it. We figured that there weren't any calendars selling at the Mall that featured horror art, so it would be a cool, unique item for horror fans and authors. I don't know if word just didn't get out or, more likely, people were saving their money for books, but it did not sell well. Still, Tony and I had a blast doing it, so it certainly wasn't a waste.

Tom, I really do think it's a kick-ass calendar, not just blowing smoke. You and Tony outdid yourselves, all the art is stellar. I won't be tossing it out when the year is done but definitely saving it for the art.

To bad. I loved the idea and the calendar was very nice.

Thanks so much. Truth be told, the other thing that made it worth while was the feedback from the people who bought it. At least those who picked up a copy sounded legitimately pleased with it. T To bad. I loved the idea and the calendar was very nice.

Once you hit that 2nd week of January interest drops like lead. (Much like "Nobody wants a Charlie in the box!") I remember buying a calendar back in the middle of '86 solely for the artwork. I still have it somewhere and the artist's name escapes me right now (Jim Davis, maybe) but I think some of his work appeared on the cover of Night Cry magazine back in the day.

Where would you put it?

Mine is proudly pinned above me as I type this. Everyone that sees it comments on how much they love it.
Shame there won't be another. I'll be keeping this one well after December.
