Actually, I truly feel that we're giving Horror Mall and it's publishers no good option. No matter what they do, all I hear on message boards is complaining. They could save the world, resuurect the economy, bring peace to earth and there would be a thread about something negative. I found horror mall about 7 months ago and was amazed that an independent company was so organized and put some much time in offering up a website that nice. As a web designer myself, the cost of running a site that intricate is outstanding. And a website really shows how much a company cares about their customers. You have billing options, layaways, stock notifies, you get something 2-3% back in points, you get points for posting reviews and for referring others. I don't know how they do because I know this market can't be very big to begin with. No one reads anymore, no one has money to buy books of any nature, let alone horror. Just last month I referred 2 buddies of mine, they both bought products and I got points added to my account. And they love the site as well. It's like an adult candy store to know that we can buy books no one else can even get and share them. Shaun Staley posted this on their blog today: horrorgy.com/blog/2010/08/26/bill-me-layaway-return/horrorgy.com/blog/2010/08/26/bill-me-layaway-return/Could it be that new customers like myself and my buddies are really appreciating this business and all it has to offer while older customers are taking it for granted? I can see there's a lot of hard work put into it and the money made could be made somewhere else far easier. I say whatever keeps this company going I'm all for sacrifice. If they end up changing for a small portion of us, they cater to the whims and demands, they're doomed in times like this. I believe a site like this has 8000 people shopping. the complaints I see are a small contingency that seems like customers that want the moon and stars along with their purchase and still aren;t happy. It's sad to see this, really. Just my two pennies. Compnaies like this do not come along when bigger companies push them out of business. We see one success story and it seems that swords are drawn. I go there I buy & I respect the business. If you don't see passion and what they've obviously done for this genre and for customers, you are obviously amiss.

Its kind of a double edge sword. On one hand offering layaway makes it possible for alot of people to buy book they perhaps would not be able to get otherwise, Take the layaway away and those buyers may not then buy those same books horror mall is trying to sell.
Personally i would be fine with the Bill me going away but lay away for the big ticket books i feel they should keep.

Well we have layaway and bill me back so customers rule I'm 100% sure everyone here who had something to say about the tempary removal of the above appreciate what Shane has done with Horror Mall. We want to spend money there and help the genre but taking the layaway away was not the right move. Myself would have spent around $400 on layaways, Some people triple that and more! Now Horror Mall would have missed out on that. Maybe not all the publishers there wanted them removed, did you think of that?? Horror Mall is a great place to shop but sometimes owners don't always make the right decisions. I'm very glad I made my thoughts clear with the layaways because I can continue to buy more books now and that makes everyone happy, customer and owner.

I agree with Frankenstein, I could see the reasoning for doing away with Bill Me, much as it was a nice thing to have, but the layaway I thought was one of their best programs.
All that said, no one was telling them what to do. they do have a right to do whatever they want, and customers have a right to express how they feel. The decision though is ultimately theirs.

I'm glad Bill Me is back since it's the option I use nearly ninety percent of the time and helps me keep track of my orders. I don't use layaway unless it's an Infernal House release but I'm glad it's back for those of you that do. I love the mall and would hate to stop shopping there.

It is the place I've gotten a great deal of my new books over the past several years. I definitely don't want to give the impression I'm not a fan of what they do.

I feel the same about Bill Me, I could do without it. But I could never afford to buy what I really want without lay-a-way.

Kudos ot HM for the change. It shows that Shane and Larry are still listening to their customers. Bill Me is not necessary and seems to be the main issue anyway, but Layaway is a great resource.
Patrick. Yeah, Shane and Larry have done a fucking great job with the company and site, but the only reason they are able to is the fact that people are willing to buy from them. Without the customers, they are fucked. Many retailers forget this fact. In this case, as always, HM has not forgotten that fact, as shown by their fast policy turnaround. Some of the people who 'don't appreciate' HM or are 'taking it for granted' have been buying there since they first opened and have spent MANY thousands of dollars. Without a lot of them, HM wouldn't have gotten this far without a much harder fight. As a newcomer, you are more than welcome to appreciate them all they are worth. The longer term customers are also free to voice their opinions.

It seems like everyone can do without the bill me option except me. I don't know whether this makes me special in a good or a bad way ha. I just paid for two of my bill me invoices today in fact. Amen Geoff on the long time customer comment. I've spent few thousand dollars there myself.

I guess my thing with Bill Me is I feel it isn't necessary as long as they announce a book with enough advance notice to save up. That's what I used Bill Me for, to reserve a book while I saved up.

Actually, if they don't announce pre orders anymore there's no reason for bill me. Is there?

Wow, seems like I missed all the drama. I can't say I buy a lot from the Mall but I do get my Infernal House books on Layaway so if they had killed it there would have been no way for me to get them. It's good too see that folks were listened to in this instance, cause I always thought that the main strength of the Mall was the layaway, I would of said before that the strength was all the knowledge tied up in the Mall forum but I would have been wrong or so I've been led to believe. You take the lay-away away and things in my opinion just lead you back to buying direct or looking for bargains on the bay.

Glad they brought both back. It makes it possible for me to continue to purchase now. I love buying from the Horror Mall and as long as they continue to cater to the customers, I will be one. That being said, I do understand changes and will accept them as they come. This one felt wrong to me though. Thanks for correcting it guys!
