I was thinking, I'll duplicate just because my author board is so far south that some of you may have missed this. My debut novella, Bugger All Backwards is available now, either directly from Gallows or from the UK and US Amazon sites. Here's the blurb: Unemployed, his girlfriend gone, aspiring writer, Jimmy Finch does what any self-respecting male would do … he beelines it to the pub to get piss drunk. However, while sitting on the establishment’s commode, Jimmy is shocked to look down and see the chubby-faced ghost of Dylan Thomas looking back at him. Before he can ponder his surreal situation, he is sucked into the toilet and through the dead poet’s reflected anus . Jimmy awakens to find that he had been transported to the bizarre town of Llareggub, seasonal home to fictional characters from movies and literature alike. With the plucky, love-struck Myfanwy as his guide, he sets out to explore the tiny burg. But the residents of Llareggub have a secret. As Jimmy enjoys a bit of celebrity, and even brushes elbows with some of fiction’s greatest characters, he soon realizes that he and his new friends are in danger. With the danger mounting, he must discover how to return to his own reality www.amazon.com/Bugger-All-Backwards-Liam-Davies/dp/0615667651/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345637278&sr=8-1&keywords=bugger+all+backwardsIf anyone buys the book, I really hope you enjoy it. Bugger All Backwards received a very favourable review in Shock Totem 6, which I hope Ken and John (who wrote the review) don't mind me sharing with you (at least a tiny excerpt)...
"The kicker is that, as ridiculous as this premise reads, it really works. The characters are strong and believable and the moral of the tale is quite strong. I’m almost thinking Davies may be some evil genius."
To my knowledge, it's my first review in a horror publication (I could be wrong) - it's really good of the folks at Shock Totem to be so kind and I thought it might tempt some of you guys on The Crypt to give the novella a go. If not, let it be a taster for my first novel, which will be coming out through Gallows, possibly this week or next. Also, the Lynch themed anthology that my story features in (alongside Thomas Ligotti! Yay!) will be out this month through Eraserhead Press.
Right, back to watching The Beyond (the mad ass Fulci movie) - absolutely bonkers stuff!

To quote my own Amazon review of this novella:
"Davies' strength as a writer lies in his ability to create flawed characters. Among the outright absurdity of his situation, and some moments of laugh-out-loud humor, the character of Jimmy is an endearing portrait of a man who is ultimately trying to overcome his weaknesses.
Bugger All Backwards is humorous, horrifying, and heart-rending all at the same time. Definitely worth the read."
And to heap further praise... Liam's work is both literate and unclassifiable. Genius? Quite possibly. Evil? No way. He loves his characters. You will too.

Cheers Kurt. Many thanks for the review. By way of return, I really enjoyed Dark Demons (completed it at last about a month ago) - some of the stories are ace, and much in the mould of Allyson Bird and Frank Duffy at the moment, the tales show the authorial steady hand that is quite rare these days. I enjoyed Powerlines too - tell me there's a new Kurt Newton project on the horizon!

Thanks Liam! I don't want to hijack your thread...but there should be an announcement from Gallows in the coming months about the paperback reprint of my first novel The Wishnk. If you liked Dark Demons you'll definitely like The Wishnik.
