I think a lot of us migrated here from the old Horror Mall forums in their various incarnations, and I was just curious what authors did you first sample after hearing about them on the forums?
For me, before I joined the HOrror Mall forum--then called The Haunt--I had never heard of Brian Knight, Gene O'Neill, or James Newman. Shame. Now I am in love with those three authors. Not romantically mind you, just totally into their works. I am so grateful for those of you who first introduced me to them and nudged me their way.

David: I would agree wholeheartedly. For years writer friends encouraged me to go to conventions, but I didn't want to divert family money for it. For several years my writer friends friends have been trying to drag me to the message boards. I started going to a few cons several years ago, and paying attention to message boards for the last year. Good decisions. Professionally, and I've made many new friends. Not surprising I was so slow, my wife drug me into the 21st century kicking and screaming, forcing me tom use a computer not so long ago. I'm still a technological klutz. But I'm slowly-very slowly--getting with the program. Gene

I couldn't begin to count the author I've learned about on the forums.

A ton of them but Tim Curran, William Ollie and Michael McBride are some of my favorites.

I'll also say, one reason I was sad to see the Horror Mall forums go was because I found a publisher on there.

I can't say what writers I discovered on the forums early on; but I can say that I discovered CD on Shocklines and from there I found most of the writers I read today. Once I found the magazine, I started buying CDs hardbacks and it snowballed from there to the horror mall where I found some more writers (&publishers) I had not heard of until I was a member. ;D
