This is the only work by McBride I've yet read (go head and berate me, I deserve it), but it was exceptional. Perfectly paced, and a very gripping story. Not to mention the cleverness of the title.

What's great is that it isn't just a clever title for a lackluster story. The story is amazing.

I know I know, but I actually lied. I don't know how I could have forgotten. McBride had the BEST story in the Sideshow Exhibits book earlier this year. His Brood XIX was amazing, exciting and intriguing and also full of genuine palpable emotion. It was outstanding.

Mike,
Do you have a collection coming out anytime soon? I have read several of your novels, but no shorts.

Hey Paul! I haven't really given any thought to a collection. Truth be told, I've probably written more novels than shorts. If I remember correctly, you ought be be able to find me in CD #57, Dark Discoveries #9, and Dark Wisdom #10. I had a story at Horror World a while back, and have work in the next Black Ink Horror and the forthcoming (heh) Ash Tree anthology Holy Horrors. And, of course, I'm sure you've read Zero and Blood Wish, and quite possibly Brood XIX and IMMUN3. (That's actually a longer list than I thought it would be when I started writing. ;D )

Though my experience is limited compared to others, and I've never read any of your novel length work yet, the two shorter pieces I've read haven't just been good but phenomenal so I'd definitely say you have the goods for one hell of a collection. Hear that publishers? Get this man a collection pronto.

I just read Jenna Sighed today. Wow. I'm normally not a huge fan of short stories, preferring something a little meatier. But this was an incredible story, with a healthy blend of science and outright terror. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Michael Mcbride is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors and has effectively destroyed my vow to not buy any more books this month - I'm headed over to HM now to score up something McBridey for my ereader
