Jesus, John, you're memory is much better than mine. Not only can't I remember what I ate for breakfast, I often forget if I've eaten, especially if I'm immersed in a project. Gene

I've mentioned elsewhere two novellas that will be out by Killercon in September--both in affordable TPBs. I'll let Tom talk about DOUBLEJACK if he cares to. But I have signed the contracts with Dark Region Press for RUSTING CHICKENS. I wrote this 4 or 5 months before the actual bin Laden mission by the SEALS. My storiy involves 4 Force Recon Marines crossing into the North Waziristan on a mission. Interwoven are story sections back in the States, where one of the characters eventually deals with TBI and other issues afflicting wounded returning veterans. I think it may be decent. My two colleagues Mike McBride and Gord Rollo will follow up with their novellas with similar themes. DRP will eventually collect all three in a l/s and deluxe hard back, end of next year. So it goes, Gene

RUSTING CHICKENS will be up for pre-order soon at DRP. They have the cover up and some blurbs now. If I were handier I'd put that cover up here. It's pretty cool. check it out. Gene

Hey, thanks, Bob. I love the symbolism of the cover. We'll see how others react after they read the book. The artist, Wayne Miller, who also did the new TASTE OF TENDERLOIN cover, wrote me a nice letter, essentially commenting on the virisimilitude of the story. Anyhow I love his work. Gene

Gene virisimilitude, the appearance of being true or real. Got it!

Thought it time to mention some projects coming in the near future.
TASTE OF TENDERLOIN: New Dark Regions Press edition, up for pre-order 28th Feb. THE BLUE HERON: A novella accepted by Dark Regions Press, to appear early 2012. IN DARK CORNERS: A collection of mostly my 90s short fiction from Genius Press, available at WHC end of March 2012. THE HUNGRY SKULL: A novelet that will be out in a magazine early 2012, then in both the lettered edition of JADE (BMB) and in a SSP chapbook, CHRONICLES OF THE DOUBLE SPARROW sometime 2012 THE BURDEN OF INDIGO: 1st book in the Cal Wild Sequence to be published in a l/s edition by BMB in September of 2012. 3 other books to follow.
At least three other projects are upcoming soon but no definite appearance dates as yet. More later.

A brief update. I've been working on a new novel. THE WHITE PLAGUE features the geezers, Joey Hotsko and Ryan O'Toole in action again. Usually I work on only one project at a time, very slowly. But I'm trying something new. I've been invited into a novelette memorial celebration anthology. So I'm trying to work on the novel *and* RIDING THE DAWG at the same time. Going okay, so far. Gene

Thanks, Bob. You'll probably be more interested in FROZEN SHADOWS, a long novella, in the Double Down Journal Stone project. It's been re-scheduled with a Chris Marrs novella for early 2014. You'll recognize one of the youngsters in the beginning of FS. Gene
