OK, since my choice of words seem to derail this thread, I think it only right I step back in with some further thoughts. Was dictatorship right choice of words...maybe not. As a buying public we are subjected to minimal information of behind the scenes (which is fair enough - I don't expect we read about the ins and outs of the business as we don't need to know). What we see are the decisions that won't always make sense to us, and as a buying public, look to go against what is in the best interest of the sellers.
This has covered a broad range of things from tkaing away lay-away, bringing it back, stating no more pre-payment, then bringing it back, people being banned from the store because of things stated on forums, etc. It sometimes seems that decisions are made that the HM stores have to live by, regardless of how it may affect their business. Dictatorship is the closest term I can use to cover how I see it.
Do I hate Horror Mall? No. Check my order history...how many thousnads have I spent there this year alone? Will I continue to buy from HM - yes. Am I happy to have more buying options again? Yes. Will I continue to buy and support Delirium? Yes. I think spreading money around in multiple locations is a much better thing for the industry, especially directly supporting the publishers as much as possible. And this is a positive of the change.
Did I want to look like I was bashing Shane? No. Does it look like I was...probably. So for that, I apologise to Shane, and to those for whom this turned into a finger pointing and for being pulled in.
I'll however restate that it is good to have more options, and I am learning more as to the whys of the change which helps to add clarity to the situation.
So, can we all play fair again?
