I'm reading The Preserve by Patrick Lestewka at the moment. What a gem this one is. It's the 1st thing I've read of his and now I'm convinced I'll be looking for more. That's a *great* book. Love his work. His non-horror stuff is great too, written under his real name, Craig Davidson. And on top of all that talent, Craig's a super-nice guy as well. As for what I'm currently reading: CATCHING HELL by Greg Gifune. Good stuff so far, but of course that was inevitable. J.N.

And I just finished a read of Catching Hell not too long ago. I have no doubt you'll be happy with that read.

Oh, and BTW: I just finished reading David Morrell's THE SHIMMER.
What a great book! You guys have to check this one out. Morrell's sorta "hit-or-miss" with me -- I love about half of his stuff I've read, the other half I had a hard time finishing if I finished it at all (not sure why, though I think it's mostly just a matter of taste re: certain plots not doing anything for me) -- but this book was the epitome of that old cliche "I couldn't put it down."
Awesome thriller. Check it out.

Fifty pages into Sideshow by William Ollie. Great start, but I kinda knew this one wouldn't disappoint.

Finished Strand's Severed Nose...very funny...and am nearly through his Dweller...this one hits the full range of emotions. Highly recommended.
Prior to that I read Gonzalez's The Corporation. Very good read. If anyone missed this one, SHAME ON YOU! Great pick for Morning Star, Larry, and as ever a superb creation.

Just finished Innocents Lost by Michael McBride and The Thief of Broken Toys by Tim Lebbon. Two very different stories. Both great reads.
I just started Sideshow by William Ollie and The Passage by Justin Cronin.

Just finished Keene's A Gathering Of Crows and was disappointed with the third of his last four releases! This time around he blends elements from Darkness On The Edge Of Town with plot points from King's Under The Dome to bring us a very unnecessarily lengthy novel devoid of any suspense whatsoever!? IMO, his blending of so many threads from his Thirteen mythos and Ob and Meeble et al, is really diluting and weakening his fiction.

wow... I just finished A Gathering of Crows as well... while i would say that trapping all the people in the town does make it have a DotEoT / Under the Dome feel but otherwise... to each their own. I personally love finding all the Labyrinth ties and he finally gives some out freely, and throws in some more cryptic things which will keep us wondering.
I mean this isn't my fav keene but it probably rates 5th among his books for me right now, mostly for the Mythos links and for Levi.
Anywho I also finished the Moore Manuscript yesterday and I'm moving on to the The Straw Men by Michael Marshal... I've heard good things about him and this book.

Yeah, I can see how a lot of people would appreciate all the additional info re: the Labyrinth etc., but to me, it just seemed to be a rehash of other books. You're right--to each his own. BTW, you are gonna looooove THE STRAW MEN, and don't forget its two sequels!!!!
