I've taken a break from working on my novel, THE CONFESSIONS OF ST. ZACH, to knock out a solicited short novella. I'm about half done with RUSTING CHICKENS. Gene

8,000 words into "Burying Reena." About 2,000 more to go.

Today I wrote my November story for my Sideshow calendar project, "The Appointed Time." I can't believe I have only one left and then the project is over. It has been a blast, that's for sure.

Congrats on the success with Sideshow, Mark.
I'm maybe halfway through the rewrite of Hammered...

Still banging away at my novella "The Summer of Winters." I think it's going alright so far--knock wood. Also took the time to pause and write a short flash piece called "Fifteen Minutes Fast."

Can't wait to read "The Summer of Winters". I love that title . . . and you KNOW I love a good coming-of-age tale.
Keep rockin',

Thanks James. I'm having fun with this one, trying not to fret about it. I love coming-of-age tales too and feel there are so many great ones--especially Midnight Rain by a certain someone--that mine will be compared to. Hope I don't stink up the joint! :-D
It's the nature of the beast I guess, but I'm plugging a lot of stuff from my own childhood in there.

Where has this thread been hiding? I looked and looked the other day. Must need new glasses. I finished a Christmas tale recently. "Undeserved Gifts"

Great to see everyone staying busy! I'm working on the 2nd novel (THE DAMPNESS OF MOURNING) in a trilogy. The first book (NURSERY RHYMES 4 DEAD CHILDREN) I'm querying agents on right now. And I'm looking over a novella (WITHIN THIS GARDEN WEEPING) that I finished a few weeks ago to see what I can tighten up before I let a couple of my trusted readers have a gander at it.

Today I took a break from the novella to start my final story in the calendar project I'm doing for Sideshow. It's a Christmas story--so lots of torture and death, naturally. 'Tis the season...

Well, today I finished my December calendar story. So my year-long project of writing a story every month based on the illustrations from the Sideshow Press 2010 calendar is over. I'm actually rather bummed, I've had a lot of fun with this project over the course of the year, and I looked forward each month to working on the new story.
