What does the proliferation of e-books mean for book signings I wonder? Just a thought...

The reason I find real books superior is just that man-made technology is inherently unreliable. I will never have to call tech support for my paperback. If I drop a hardcover, I don't have to go get a new one. I can take my books into the tub, and if it were to slip, yes it would bloat as it dried but would still be perfect readable. I never have to recharge a book, can read it by candle light during a power outtage even if I haven't "plugged it in" in a month. Will never have to worry about a glitch or virus erasing some of my books. Actual physical books I firmly believe will always be the best way to get stories out there. Digital is here to stay, I have no illusions about that, but I'm not in the camp that believes it will ever replace traditional publishing. I believe the two will co-exist side by side.

I just got a kindle for my birthday, I plan on collecting my small press hardcovers still but most everything else if its available digitally that will be the way i go.
Also my friend who is a librarian has a e reader and loves it , he was talking about how his library is embracing the technology and about checking out digital editions etc.

I can download the latest books from my public library without the need to make the trip to the library or to handle a book that's been who knows where. I want to point out that this is sort of new - the downloading of e-BOOKS and audiobooks from the library in digital format. We would appreciate any and all requests to your local libraries for Crossroad Press books...they can order them through Overdrive.Com - and it would be a great help to us
