I will most likely be going, as long as it doesn't conflict with my Seton Hill residency.

So it's at the WHC that they give out the strokers right? I just looked though the list of Award Recommendations and saw two things I wanted to point out... 1st. they spelt Delirium Books wrong and went for the old Delerium... which I thought was pretty sweet... and secondly where's Thunderstorm books at in the Recommendations? I seen a whole ton of publishers I ain't never of even heard of, but not a sniff of Thunderstorm or Tasmaniac and don't even try and tell me that THE AWAKENINGS should be recommended for something. Not many publishers I actually know at all. So what's the deal? Who recommends these books? and why the fuck is there so many I've not heard of? I thought I was on the cutting edge here with you guys, thought I knew about all the good stuff coming out and was reading all the best books by the greatest writers... and there's all these other folks out there getting recommended that I know nothing about... you guys holding out on me? There some other forum you ain't told me about where you talk about all these other dudes? I'm on to you guys now. Ya bastards

And have you seen the 'Silver Hammer' award? How fucking cool is that? For the Stroker all you get's some castle thing... but a Silver Hammer? Now there's something useful. I just read it's only crome... but to be honest that's even better cause it can be used as a proper tool whereas I'm gonna take a guess that a real silver one wouldn't last too long depending on what you is hitting with it. I mean sure a crome one is better if you are building shit and hitting nails and bricks and stuff, but silver wouldn't break or dent hitting bone would it? That's a bit scientific that question, where's McBride when you need him?

Any member, at any level, can "recommend" a work. So you've got supporting members, academic members, affiliates, actives, lifetime members-- any of those can put a book down for recommendation. Even if the book is self published. Hence, all the "publishers" you've never heard of. There is some decent stuff outside the inner circle of small press horror, but to be honest, it's usually zombie action books or fuck-me-I'm-A-Vampire books. *Hopefully* the cream rises to the top by the time the preliminary ballot and then the final ballot are decided by a Jury and the Active members. There have been a number of great writers that have gotten close and who really deserved it, but didn't win or didn't even make the final ballot. Hell, Jeff Strand should have won already-- maybe a few times. I hope he will have the honor someday. Unless I'm up against him, then I'll be.."Huh? Who is this Strand person? " hehehehe

Ah right I get you, so basically any member can recommend anything if they are a member and then it gets whittled down and some other members weed out all the crap so hopefully you end up with the shit for that year.
I take it that you be a member Ben? Is there a limited of how many things you can recommend? Cause it would be cool if you could recommend TSB for the Speciality Press award. A ton of other publishers I like have already won it and I think TSB have worked extra hard this year picking up all the slack.
And if you could sneak me one of the hammers that would be awesome.
