Dark Regions Press will be taking pre-orders soon for 13 deluxe editions of THE BLUE HERON. In addition they will bring a limited number of trade paperbacks to WHC in Salt Lake City at the end of March. These 25 or so TPBs will be the only ones of this edition available. At the end of the year (probably first of 2013) THE BLUE HERON will be part of a TPB Double like Ace used to do. The other novella will be written by Gord Rollo.

Gene, will there be a hard cover limited? Or just the Deluxe and tpb.

John: Contract says just the Deluxe and TPB. I think it has something to do with the high cost of doing these *double novel* books. Apparently that is why the TPB will have a relatively high print run--so DRP can recoup costs. Gene

I'm hoping that Dark Regions Press has some copies from the printer in hand for WHC of THE BLUE HERON. It has a really stunningly beautiful cover by Wayne Miller, and I think it may be just as good as RUSTING CHICKENS (but no fantasy or supernatural stuff, except for maybe the sighting of a Blue Heron in a Vietnam village back in 1962). There will be a special signing of TPB copies of THE BLUE HERON at the Dark Region Press table at WHC in Salt Lake City. Friday, the 30th at 1:30. I think these 25 or so copies are the only individual TPBs to be printed of this novella. Come by and check out the really stunning cover by Wayne Miller. See you there, Gene

Apparently the deluxe of THE BLUE HERON sold out four hours after announcement. Cool. Now, the Ace-like double TPB that includes TBH and Gord's RED CROSS might go pretty fast, too (if Gord gets the dang thing finished in time for an early winter release by Dark Regions Press). Thanks for the support, Gene

GENE! CONGRATS ON YOUR STOKER WIN FOR THE BLUE HERON!! WELL DESERVED. I'M SO VERY PROUD OF YOU, MY FRIEND. We all missed you at NOLA, and Kim Despins especially missed Gord. She forgot her bottle opener again. (big grin)
