This is one I've wanted to do for a long time, but had too many projects going on to get going on it. Well, last week, I hit a stall with a project I'm working on and did this to kind of take my mind off of things.
I looked all over to find a copy of the 1985 PLUME edition of The Bachman Books and finally found one it pretty decent condition--this was months ago. Told ya I was busy! lol
Anyway, I found one with an interior that was still in good shape. There's slight browning due to age, but otherwise, nice enough. What do you expect, the book has been in circulation for 25 years!
Here's the one I bought--
So, last week I tore it down. Took the cover off and separated the text block to give me the four individual novels.
Now, there were two specific reasons I wanted the 1985 PLUME edition of this book. One was the large trim size and two, each novel's frontispiece was the original cover art from the SIGNET paperback editions they were first released in--
I added French parchment to the front and back of each text block, added colored and textured endsheets and trimmed them all down. All of the stains and a majority of the heavy browning you normally find on old paperbacks like this are now gone and sitting in my trashcan now. :-)
Then I made some covers. These are half bound with kidskin at the spine and black cloth for the cover boards--
I cased the books in and stamped the spine with the title of each novel and the author. Plus I added a BACHMAN stamp on the front of each book in Old English font--
RAGE got red endsheets, THE LONG WALK got blue, ROADWORK got orange and THE RUNNING MAN got black--
And that's it--here's the last pic so you can see the BACHMAN stamp on the fronts--
Now, I have that one out of my system. lol Anyway, I think I'll probably try to sell this set. I might even set up an auction here on The Crypt. Who knows. So...anybody want 'em? :-)
